KUCHING: Some 500 participants from various ethnic groups are expected to attend the Fifth Sarawak Cultural Symposium to be held here in June.
Themed ’45 Years of Confluence of Cultures and Unity’, the symposium is organised by the Ministry of Social Development and Urbanisation.

It will be organised by Sarawak Development Institute (SDI) together with the Ministry of Modernisation of Agriculture, International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movement (IFOAM), United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the International Task Force for Harmonisation and Equivalence in Organic Agriculture (ITF).
KUCHING: The Malaysian economy is still one of the strongest in the region, said Malaysian Institute of Economic Research (MIER) executive director Emeritus Prof Datuk Dr Mohamed Ariff. The economy had been surprisingly resilient despite the global slowdown, he said at the 13th Annual Regional Corporate Economic briefing at Holiday Inn Kuching yesterday.
KUCHING: Sarawak Development Institute (SDI) is extending its ‘early bird’ fees for an upcoming workshop on Cost Benefit Analysis to Feb 1 from its initial Jan 31 deadline. ‘Early bird’ registration is RM850 per participant. "Currently, SDI has received encouraging participation from the public," said an SDI press release yesterday.
