Introduction

SDI aims to foster a community of development practitioners contributing to Sarawak’s development through a membership that provides access to networking opportunities, professional development, and collaborative initiatives. With this pool of development practitioners and experts, we wish to build a body of knowledge on development issues facing Sarawak and provide a platform for intellectual discourse on development issues, nationally and globally.

Ordinary Membership
  • For professionals and experts looking to contribute their skills to Sarawak’s development agenda
  • Only for Malaysians
  • Free membership
Associate Membership
  • Open to non-Malaysians professionals who are interested in Malaysia’s and Sarawak’s development agenda
  • Free membership
Corporate Membership
  • For corporate organisations based in Sarawak seeking opportunities to contribute to Sarawak and partner with SDI to achieve shared development goals.
  • Corporate Membership Contribution: RM2,000 per annum
Membership Benefits
  1. Research and Knowledge Sharing
    • Early access to SDI’s special resources such as small research grants, research findings and reference materials, data, and in-house publications.
    • Opportunities to co-lead and be part of research project teams, co-author papers, reports, and articles with SDI.
  2. Recognition and Visibility
    • Acknowledgement in SDI’s reports, publications, and official platforms
    • Opportunities to serve as committee members and advisors for core areas, research fellows, panelists and moderators at SDI events

Tracking of Members’ Contributions

Members’ contributions will be tracked and recorded to ensure transparency and recognition as follows:

Contribution Metrics

  • Research contributions: participation in studies – advisory role, consultant, data collection, report writing, etc.
  • Event participation: attendance only/and active participation (as speaker/moderator/ chairman/posing questions at talks, workshops, seminars, and conferences)
  • Paper/article contributions: for publications, newsletter and column
  • Advisory roles: membership in committees, working groups, projects or events
  • Outreach efforts: support for advocacy campaigns and stakeholder engagement
Recognition and Rewards for Contributions
  1. Certificate of Contribution Members will receive certificates acknowledging their involvement in significant initiatives.
  2. Awards Program The following recognition and awards will be given to outstanding members as of when and if applicable.

    • Members’ names and contributions will be highlighted in SDI newsletters, reports, and on the official website.
Membership Engagement Plan

    A structured calendar of events and activities will be made available to members.
  2. Member Orientation and Onboarding
    New members will be given an orientation session to understand SDI’s vision, mission and objectives, on-going activities and programmes, and how they can contribute to the Institute.
